Bot traffic represents the activity of automated crawlers or spiders that reach a website and appear as visitors, but are not real visitors. Existence of bot traffic may hinder the efforts to analyze the traffic patterns.
Google Analytics can deploy filters that can exclude bot traffic reports, leaving only legitimate traffic to analyze. While bot traffic can be filtered out and Google Analytics itself keeps a record of known bot traffic sources and excludes them automatically, ghost traffic represents tampering with Analytics measurement protocol and showing false and nonexistent data. This can be solved solely by establishing manual filters.
