Hypertext Markup Language (HTML)

Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) tells the Web browser how to display a web page's graphics and articles/words for the user. Each piece of markup code is referred to as an element or a tag.

Certain elements come in pairs for the purpose of showing when some display effect is to begin and when it is to end. The WWW consortium (W3C) recommends html and all major browsers use it.
