Payment Gateway

Payment gateways are used by all types of businesses including all that have an e-commerce presence. In order to facilitate the purchase of the product on a particular site the web site will set up a payment gateway that is a company which takes the customer's bank details and actively debits their account for the amount of the purchase. Payment gateways then send that money on to the retailer.

There are many different payment gateways on offer. A monthly fee is normal for a payment gateway as well as potentially paying a percent of the sales that is effected through the gateway. The payment gateways can facilitate transactions through any type of device including tablets, mobiles and computers.

Fraud tools are usually present within the payment gateway software that acts to limit fraud by confirming the geolocation of the purchaser and any other details that are used within the transaction, such as the delivery address.
