Some businesses will create a persona when they market to a specific demographic that represents the group of customers they are trying to gain. Advertising will be based on these internet personas and will monitor browsing history and ads of people who are online and clicking on certain ads to make an analysis of the type of customer that this is. If a pattern emerges then the persona will be created around that.

For example, if the product has proven to be sold to men in their early twenties or women in their sixties then the persona will match the average consumer. This is done in order to appeal most appropriately to the target market.
